Training: XC02 - Introduction to IPsec with Openswan

XC02 Introduction to IPsec w/Openswan* (2 Days)

In this course the students will learn about building IPsec VPNs using Openswan.

IPsec is the IP security protocol, part of both IPv4 and IPv6. VPNs are Virtual Private Networks, used to connect different locations together. Openswan is the IPsec implementation for Linux based systems.

At the end of the course the students will be able to configure and deploy multiple location mesh-style Virtual Private Networks. An emphasis will be made on managing this network, and wide scale deployment techniques.

The students will learn the threats and risks to the system, and how to properly configure the VPN to avoid them.

No Certificate Authority or experience with PKI is required or provided.

This is a hands on course.

    Prerequisites:
  • Linux Systems Administration
  • TCP/IP Networking

*Openswan is the commercially supported version of the Linux IPsec stack, formerly known as "FreeS/WAN".
